Frequently asked questions

What does it mean to have an individual lease?

Individual leasing means that each person is only responsible for their portion of the common areas and their bedroom. If your roommate ends up not coming back for the spring semester, you are not responsible for their payment.

What is included in the rent?

The Verge rent includes utilities (water, sewer, and trash pickup), Internet, washer and dryer, access to all of our community amenities, and a wonderful staff that is here to help you anytime you need.

Do you have a roommate matching?

Yes, we offer a roommate matching system. If you don’t have anyone in mind that you would like to live with, let us match you up with someone. You’ll fill out our Roommate Matching sheet to let us know more about what you’re looking for in a roommate. Then, we spend weeks over the summer figuring out the best match for you based on your answers.

When is my rent due?

You have three installment payment options to pay the entire amount due under the lease—one installment, two installments, or twelve installments. If you choose to pay a single installment for the entire amount, that single installment is due August 1. If you choose to pay in two semester installments, those installments are due August 1 and January 1. If you choose to pay in twelve installments, the first installment is due on August 1 and the remaining eleven installments are due on the 1st of the next eleven months. Please note that these are all installment payments and not monthly rent.

Everything your student needs

The Verge is designed to support student productivity through community amenities like a fully equipped computer lab. Students can get social and stay healthy through shared spaces like a state-of-the-art fitness center, and game room. Our pet-friendly apartments in Asheville meet every need your student may have so they can succeed in a fun, social atmosphere.

Individual Leases

Individual leasing means peace of mind for you. Unlike many apartments, we offer an individual lease rather than a joint lease shared with other tenants. That means your financial responsibility is only for your student’s space. You don’t need to worry if a roommate moves out at any point because you won’t be responsible for their portion of the rent.

On-site Professional Staff

Our maintenance team always responds quickly to maintenance issues and acts with professionalism and courtesy. Plus, with our 24-hour emergency maintenance service, you can rest assured that your student’s comfort will never be compromised.

Affordable Floor Plans

The Verge offers two uniquely spacious floor plans, so your student can find the space to best suit their preferences and needs. Our two- and three-bedroom apartment homes feature individual bedrooms and bathrooms for each student, so your student will have plenty of space to both socialize with roommates and get some quiet studying done.

Fully-furnished Apartments

Our fully furnished apartment community saves you time, money, and hassle. Each student will have a full-sized bed, desk, dresser, and end table in their private bedrooms. The shared living area comes with a comfortable couch, chair, coffee table, and end table, and the kitchen includes energy-efficient appliances, a refrigerator with icemaker, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer.

Roommate Matching

If your student doesn’t have a roommate in mind, no worries—we can find them one. Each student will fill out a Roommate Matching form so that we know what they’re looking for in their ideal roommate. Then, over the summer, we devote weeks to studying these preferences and matching them with the best person we can find.

Resident Events

At The Verge Asheville, your student will create life-long relationships and connections that will support their success. Our staff plans monthly resident events to get students involved, from pizza parties and gaming tournaments to resume-building classes. We also keep our residents connected to events going on at the University of North Carolina Asheville and events happening around town in Asheville, so they won’t miss a thing.
